AIB Fellow - Tatiana Kostova
Tatiana Kostova is the Buck Mickel Chair and Professor of International Business at the University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business. Prior to coming to the US as a Fulbright Scholar at UCLA, she was on the faculty and associate director of the Graduate School of Management, at the University of Economics in Varna, Bulgaria.
Tatiana holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation "Success of the transnational transfer of organizational practices within multinational companies" won the Barry Richman Best Dissertation Award of the IM Division of AOM and the Richard Farmer Best Dissertation Award of AIB. Her work focuses on MNC management and includes topics such as institutional and cultural embeddedness of cross-border transfer of management practices, organizational legitimacy and social capital of MNCs. Her most significant scholarly contributions to the IB field include the introduction of the concepts of country institutional profile and institutional distance and more generally, the further development of the institutional perspective in the MNC context. Her work has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Management, and many others. In 2007 she was recognized as the “Rising Star” in Economics & Business by Incites for the high impact of her publications.
